The Balvenie distillery is situated in the heart of Speyside,
Scotland’s most famous whisky producing region and was founded
in 1892 when work began to convert an eighteenth century
mansion, Balvenie New House into a distillery. On 1st May 1893
the first distillation took place and in over 100 years very
little has altered. The Balvenie remains the only distillery
that still grows its own barley, still malts in its own
traditional floor maltings and still employs coopers to tend the
casks and a coppersmith to maintain the stills.
This single-minded dedication to craftsmanship and quality has
ensured The Balvenie a place in the hearts of many of the
world’s leading whisky experts, this and of course its
deliciously distinctive taste. Described by The Balvenie’s malt
master as having a voluptuous honeyed flavour, The Balvenie
offers range of single malts. Each has its own unique taste yet
shares in this characteristic honeyed sweetness.
Whiskies from The Balvenie’s award winning range include:
The Balvenie Founder’s Reserve 10 Year Old
The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old
The Balvenie Single Barrel 15 Year Old
The Balvenie PortWood 21 Year Old
The Balvenie Single Barrel 25 Year Old
The Balvenie Vintage Cask
Once a year, The Balvenie’s Malt Master samples all bourbon
casks aged over 30 years and selects a few exceptional casks for
release. Each bottle of the chosen vintage is individually
inscribed by hand with the cask number, the date it was filled,
the bottling date, the individual number of the bottle, and the
total number of bottles in the limited edition.
The Balvenie Cask 191
Aged 50 Years
The oldest and rarest whisky ever to be released from The
Balvenie. This whisky has a complex nose of intense toffee,
marzipan and sweet oak and an astonishing depth of flavour,
developing from butterscotch to clover honey, liquorice and
chocolate.
