A true oasis for the busy traveller and executive, the Society
boasts fine and elegant premises in the heart of London’s Hatton
Garden and at its traditional home at the historic Vaults in
Edinburgh.
For the novice and connoisseur alike, an appreciation of good whisky
is not essential as the Society ensures a relaxed and attractive
setting, appealing to a wide range of members on a private,
corporate and international level.
Edinburgh
In Edinburgh, the Society uses the impressive upper floor of its
historic 18th Century Vaults building to entertain a lively
international band of whisky-loving members. Whether for personal
use, social events or business activities, the wonderful
surroundings are best appreciated when a glass of fine malt whisky
is introduced into the proceedings.
To support our personalised approach to all events, fresh food is
bought and prepared to your special requirements with menus designed
to fit the occasion perfectly. The Society’s high quality,
locally-sourced seasonal produce is complemented with an excellent
wine list.
There are also a number of self-catering flats available to members
in Edinburgh just upstairs from the Members’ Room. These are very
popular with visiting members, providing the ideal base from which
to explore Scotland’s beautiful capital city.

London
In London, the upper floors of a classic Victorian building in
Hatton Garden have been transformed to provide a warm and relaxed
place where members are always welcome. Feel instantly at home
enjoying a dram from the bar by yourself or in the company of
friends or associates. With rooms available for private events and
business meetings, the Society is ideally placed to mix business
with pleasure. Larger parties are catered for within the nearby 12th
Century Medieval Crypt, where Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon had
their three day wedding feast!
UK and Worldwide
If you can’t come to us, we’ll come to you! The Society also
conducts whisky tastings and events for groups of all sizes around
the world. These events are famous for being both entertaining and
memorable, but always tailored to the needs of the group.
Relaxed, informal, involving and above all enjoyable, we organise
everything which leaves you and your guests free to indulge in the
experience. There’s no better way to break the ice or get to know
someone than over a drink and the Society is perfectly placed to
help entertain you and your friends and colleagues.

The Whisky
So what’s so special about Society Malt Whisky? In the mid 1970s a
group of whisky-loving friends clubbed together to buy a single cask
of malt whisky to savour, share and enjoy. By 1983 they had become a
syndicate and from there the Society was born. Today the Society
continues to buy selected casks from distilleries the length and
breadth of Scotland. All Society whiskies are bottled direct from a
single cask at full strength, which makes each bottling unique. At
the last count there were over 20,000 whisky-loving members from
around the world clubbing together to buy the finest malt whisky to
savour, share and enjoy!
