For years Bentley have led the motor car world, creating and
producing objects of desire for the most discerning collectors. The
dream of many – the realisation of few. Exclusive and distinctive.
And, as the new Continental GT demonstrates – beautifully crafted
and sculpted.

Many Bentley owners who are attracted to such beauty are also drawn
to the world of sculpture. Sculpture offers the same prestige and
individuality, but also the thrill of owning something which can
touch the very soul of our emotions.
In Britain there is an enormous talent of creative artists working
with an incredible range of materials. One of the boldest and most
diverse sculptors is Helaine Blumenfeld. Since 1966 she has been at
the forefront of contemporary sculpture, exhibiting with renowned
sculptors such as Henry Moore and Brancusi. Her sculpture is a
fusion of sensual and sophistication emotions that are drawn from
Greek mythology. Her most recent works are creations in marble and
onyx. Deceptively simple they are full of movement and light.
Another leading British-based sculptor is Charlotte Mayer. A student
of Goldsmiths’ College, her work has attracted international buyers
for both private and public collections. Meyers’ sculptures have
undergone significant change from her early work in the 1950s. But
her current pieces show a recurrent and consistent link back to the
mid 1970s when visits to Dartmoor made a profound impression on her
work. This theme is reflected in a fascination for spiral patterns
of shells and seed-pods and in the interpretation of the natural
world of trees and birds with their movement, inter-relationship and
complex but tactile texture.
‘Temptation and Reward’ is a recurring theme in Guy Portelli’s
latest sculptures focusing on the packaging and promotion of objects
of desire. Born in 1957, Guy’s work additionally draws upon the
excitement and passion of Latin culture – expressing a bold and
seductive mixture of symbolic and primal influences. Two well known
examples of Guy’s work include “Go for It” and “Puzzle” which typify
his unique style. The use of sensual and exuberant coloured glass or
mosaic into the bronzes further enhances the imagery. A former
council member of both The Royal British Society of Sculptors (RBS)
and The Royal Society of British Artists, his work is equally sought
after for corporate commissions or private collections throughout
Europe.
American born Deidre Hubbard is also a member of the RBS. Hubbard
creates bronzes which have real immediate sensual quality to them,
often formed from interlocking units. Typically inspired by the
female form they have a quiet, timeless elegance about them.
Frequently using harmonious series of convex and concave figures
linking together, Hubbard creates synergistic, timeless sculptures
displaying grace and elegance. Often highly polished her work is
particularly engaging, frequently reaching out to be touched and
appreciated. Bentley owners know the satisfaction that specifying
and ordering a new model brings. Buying and commissioning sculpture
can be equally exciting and presents an opportunity for a special
relationship between gallery, artist and client. And, maybe the
ultimate fulfilment of desire.
