Tim was born in Shabane, Rhodesia on 3 May 1964. He
is the eldest of three sons and has an older sister. He is married
to Frances and has two children Jenna 7 and Kayla 2. His family
lived and worked in Bulawayo, Rhodesia until after it became
Zimbabwe and then they moved south to Cape Town, South Africa.

Once Tim had completed his schooling he went to Pinelands College in
Cape Town and started an apprenticeship as a motor mechanic with a
Mercedes dealer. During this time he was conscripted into the South
African National Service for two years, in the South African Air
Force. He spent 18 months of his two years in an active operational
area, Angola and South West Africa.
In 1986, he qualified as a motor mechanic and went on to work at a
Mercedes dealer until 1988 when he joined the BMW Technician program
and moved to East London, Eastern Cape. During the following four
years, Tim attended a vast number of training courses and qualified
as a Master Technician in 1993. During 1993, he was nominated for
and won Technician of the Year throughout the BMW group in South
Africa and was awarded an all expenses paid trip to the Far East,
including Bangkok, Hong Kong and Singapore. Shortly after this he
was head hunted by a dealer in Port Elizabeth to manage their
workshop.
Tim and Frances were married on 11 February 1995 and continued to
live in Port Elizabeth. Tim then enrolled at Rhodes University to do
a management course and graduated in 1997. Their first daughter
arrived in 1997 and for them this was a turning point – they had to
reassess their future in South Africa. They decided to move to the
UK. Both Tim and Frances are British citizens by descent, both their
fathers having been born here, so they were fortunate in being able
to exercise this option.

Finding a job in the UK was not as easy as anticipated. Tim’s
pedigree had not followed him across and he had to set out to prove
himself all over again! During the first summer here he worked with
a friend in a hospitality event management area and then accepted a
job as a Service Executive at Weybridge Automobiles, the Jaguar
dealer. Tim joined Broughtons of Surrey in March 2001 as Service
Manager.
Tim has many interests including mountain biking, and is looking at
doing Lands End to John o’Groats in the near future. He is an
Advanced Scuba Diver, having been spoilt with the fantastic
coastline in South Africa . One passion that has not wavered since
Tim was a child is his passion for cars. He reads anything he can
find about cars, collects scale model cars and attends any car or
racing event that he can fit into his busy schedule. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
