:.Flowing Champagne and Exquisite Cuisine

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

:. Our November wine event at Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons welcomes Laurent-Perrier Champagne during a reception and a four-course gourmet feast especially
created by world renowned chef,
Raymond Blanc. This evening of sheer indulgence also offers guests the unique opportunity to learn about the history and distinctive craftsmanship that goes into creating Laurent-Perrier Champagne.

During the evening, champagne connoisseur Vicomte Bernard de La Giraudière, one of Laurent-Perrier’s founders in the UK in the 1970s, will give expert tutoring on the varieties of Champagnes tasted and explain their particular history and characteristics.

Bernard de La Giraudière

Bernard de La Giraudière joined the House of Laurent-Perrier in 1967, as Export Manager and became an Export Director in 1970.

As Export Director, he was responsible for all Laurent-Perrier’s international activities and oversaw the phenomenal growth as Laurent-Perrier developed from a relatively small champagne house into one of the three largest today. While many other champagne houses are parts of large multinational companies Laurent-Perrier is still an independent family owned company.

Bernard’s strong personal ties with the United Kingdom – he started his working life in London with the BBC French Service at Bush House – meant that the United Kingdom was his favourite market. It was here that he established the first Laurent-Perrier subsidiary company overseas, Laurent-Perrier UK Ltd, which is now based in Marlow.

He went on to become Joint Managing Director of the Laurent-Perrier Group. Working with the chairman Bernard de Nonancourt, main shareholder and chief executive officer of the family business. He held this position until 1995, when he retired from day-to-day managerial activities.

Bernard now sits on the French main Board and is Vice-Chairman of Laurent-Perrier (UK) Ltd.

Laurent-Perrier champagnes bear the hallmark of the unique house style; that is, lightness, produced as a result of chardonnay dominated blends. Founded in 1812 by Eugene Laurent, who was selling his first bottles of champagne from the remains of an 11th-century abbey in the small French village of Tours-sur-Marne, Laurent-Perrier has since become world renowned for its exquisite champagnes characterised by their delicacy and elegance.

Champagnes have been carefully selected for this evening and include:

l Laurent Perrier Brut NV
l Laurent Perrier Cuvée Ultra Brut
l Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle La Cuvée
l Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle Cuvée Alexandra Rosé

Raymond Blanc has created his four-course feast to match the various champagnes and bring out the individual tastes of each of the wines. The combination of Raymond Blanc’s cuisine and the tasting of fantastic champagnes makes for an unforgettable evening and one that should not be missed.

This unique evening, commencing at 7pm, will take place at Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons on Thursday 18th November 2004 and can be enjoyed for £195.00 per person. Dress is black tie. Special accommodation rates are also available for guests priced from £250.00.
