The Starlight Shooting Challenge, Highclere Castle, 8 June 2005

The 3rd Starlight Shooting Challenge will take place at Highclere Castle, near Newbury, on Wednesday 8 June 2005 in aid of the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Ron Randall and Blue Waters Hotel have kindly agreed to support this year’s Challenge. Blue Waters Hotel is a long established, award-winning and family run hotel situated for over forty years in the historic Soldier’s Bay in Antigua.
Twenty-four teams of four guns will shoot five simulated sporting “drives”, each replicating different species of game birds within the 7000-acre estate. Each team will have the opportunity of shooting a minimum of 1000 clays during the day and so all participants should have at least a modicum of shooting experience! A four-wheel drive vehicle is essential as off-road driving is involved on all the “drives”. Mitsubishi Motors Reading will kindly be providing a limited number of top-of-the-range Mitsubishis for those who do not have a suitable vehicle, or who would be interested in test driving one.

The shooting is being organised by The Royal Berkshire Shooting School in conjunction with The Really Wild Clay Company. With their expertise a challenging morning’s shooting is guaranteed. The cost of entering a team of four guns is £2,000 which is fully inclusive of all shooting, clays and cartridges, breakfast and midday snacks, the Laurent-Perrier Champagne Reception and the seated lunch in the library in the castle. Team members are welcome to invite lunch guests (limited numbers) at an extra cost of £65 per person. Following lunch will be speeches, an auction and prize giving. Once again, Broughtons have kindly agreed to sponsor the car park and will provide a wonderful display of their very latest Bentley cars.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation grants wishes to seriously and terminally ill children and entertains all children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK. The charity began in 1987 by helping just four children; today, they help over 400,000 every year in the UK. Starlight receives neither Government nor Lottery support.
Please join us at this unique and fun event. If you wish to reserve a team please contact Kim Nelson at Bentley Pangbourne on 0118 976 6363 – you do not have to give names of your team members at this stage
