Experience-savvy,
affluent travellers are leading the trend of having a place to call home
even when you're nowhere near your primary residence. Whether alongside
the perfect ski slope, steps from the beach, overlooking Central Park or
in the port of San Tropez, the notion of having your own slice of
paradise is gaining momentum.
The World pioneered the concept of creating a new kind of "home away
from home." A ship and an experience like no other, The World takes
second-home ownership a step further, allowing privileged residents to
travel the globe without leaving the comfort of their impeccable, second
home.
Void of restrictive and typical timeshare décor, the apartments and
studios aboard The World were created by renowned designers Nina
Campbell, J.P. Molyneux, Luciano Di Pilla and Yran & Storbraaten
architects. And if location - as they say - is all that matters, the
second home owners aboard The World enjoy a continuously changing scene
of the planet's most impressive ports of call - which this year includes
visits to India, Greece, Belgium, Italy, France, the Arctic Circle, the
Middle East, New York, Montreal and Barcelona as well as stops timed for
major world events, such as the British Open at legendary St. Andrews
Golf Course.

Beyond fabulous design and great locations, The World offers its
residents no restrictions - they come and go as they please (this is
their home after all), enjoy a private club atmosphere and the services
and amenities of the most exclusive ocean liner including 24- hour
in-room dining, spa and fitness centre, concierge services, golf, tennis
and a community of kindred spirits.
2005 Itinerary Highlights
In 2005 - for truly adventurous types - the vessel's 2005 itinerary
offers 28 days of "Captain's Choice" travel. These planned (although
unannounced) stops throughout the 2005 itinerary will be a mix of single
and multi-day trips that will introduce passengers to many of the
world's most secluded locations. Examples include the mysterious and
undiscovered land of Myanmar; the seldom-seen Arctic region of
Spitsbergen; the seaside villages that dot the stunning landscape from
Iceland to Canada's Goose Bay; the dramatic scenery found in Norway's
Lofoten Islands or perhaps a playful day of water sports at the Similan
Islands, when the vessel's retractable marina could be employed.
Captain's
Choice itineraries are the collaboration of the vessels' own worldly
adventurers, Norwegian-born Masters of The World, Captains Ola S.
Harsheim and Dag Sævik. Their quest-seeking seafarer status is evidenced
by Captain Sævik's 2001 post as Captain of the Leif Erikson replica
vessel. Captain Sævik navigated through the waters of the Amazon and the
Brazilian coast from Norway to North America, chronicling the brave son
of Iceland's daring voyage in 1001. Likewise, the ardent Captain Ola
Harsheim struck out for the Far East aboard a freighter at the tender
age of 15, a journey that led to a lifelong career aboard ships
including at the helm of every Royal Viking vessel.

An Entrée To THE WORLD,
Rental Options Exist For those who prefer to become a guest first, many
residents choose to rent their homes when not aboard The World, rates
start at $1,000 per night and vary by itinerary, based on double
occupancy, and require a six night minimum stay. Onboard dining, select
wines and beverages, onboard gratuities and port charges are included.
Golf afficionados who choose this entrée into The World have the
opportunity to satiate their passion this July, when The World is the
featured host of a 15-night British Open Golf Tour*. Highlights of this
fabulous itinerary include tickets to the last two days of the British
Open at St. Andrews on July 16 and 17, luxury accommodation including
six nights aboard The World, play including greens fees and preferred
tee times at eight of the country's most famed courses such as Royal
Troon, Prestwick Golf Club, Carnoustie and Gleneagles Kings Course.
While on board, guests will experience the impressive
World
County Club, a comprehensive golf club that reflects The World's mission
to offer an unparalleled lifestyle. Here, residents and guests can
practice driving on the first ship to offer top-deck, open-air,
full-shot driving ranges. Other features include three artificial grass
greens, state-of-the-art simulator, computerised training system,
dissolving "eco-balls" and biodegradable corn tees and mats made of
recycled rubber.
Perhaps best of all, The World golf pros offer on-board instruction and
will coordinate play at courses matching the vessel's ports of call,
such as Royal Melbourne in Australia, Royal County Down in Ireland and
Tangier Royal Golf Club in Morocco.
